Kudos to Us!

Congratulations to the University of Nebraska-Omaha for flexing its newly discovered academic muscle in being named to separate Best Colleges Lists. First, the Business program strikes again as they have been placed on the U.S. News & World Reports list of America's Best Colleges. For those of you that do not know, the magazine issues a yearly investigation concerning the best places of higher learning. From undergraduate institutions public and private to graduate programs ranging from med school to engineering school, all are listed in a somewhat subjective manner concerning a multitude of measurables. That said, it is a favorable list to appear on for reputation. The business persons have repeatedly landed on the list, making the MBA program one that draws students from other institutions intra-state, as well as from institutions from around the country.

UNO also appears in the Best Midwestern Colleges issued yearly by the Princeton Review company. As taken from the UNO website, "The Princeton Review launched its regional college guides several years ago in response to a growing trend for students to attend colleges and universities within two- to five-hour drives of their homes".

A total of 6 colleges and universities made the cut. Along with UNO we have the usual suspects of Creighton and UNL. The other three would be the Praire Wolves of Nebraska Wesleyan, Doane, and Hastings. Of the 6, it is easily seen that the ratio regarding value of education to cost is highest served by attending UNO. All of these schools, besides Lincoln as they would be in the University system, cost a pretty penny to attend. Usually, graduates still have to move to Omaha and re-establish roots 4-5 years dormant if they continued to live through the summer at their college of choice.

Again, we have a good thing going here as the Princeton website shows that we are a university of "ascension". Keep working hard and know that your presence is helping better OUR institution of choice.
