Quick Hitters

* Can we assume that the meeting last week in Grand Island at which Chancellor Belck presented her side of the story concerning financial lapses in the athletic department went well? The general public has heard nothing more from the then rampant, almost daily reports of our university gone awry. it has been so quiet that it has been more than a week since there has been a peep online from the "Voice" office, and can you blame us?

* Is there something with the Nebraska Regents appointing ex-Senator David Karnes auditor of UNO's athletic department? The same David Karnes who is UNL alumni of '71, who also attended law school in stinkin' Lincoln. I don't mean to lob conspiracy theories out, looking for something to stick, but is he the absolute best sought out for the benefit of UNO? Why not just let David Sokol give the audit a shot? That would at least be interesting...

* Why has Supreme Chancellor Belck not been placed into our Hall of Shame yet?

* Why has Vice Supreme Chancellor Jim Buck not been placed into our Hall of Shame yet??? We (students) are paying for his new Caddy and country club membership for crying out loud! That screams evil.

* Just letting everyone know, Governor Heineman appointed the new Nebraska Regent taking the place of the impeached/convicted David Herbster. Here is the rundown: his name is not important. He's old. He's from Western Nebraska. He's a conservative maintaining that his only concern is his disdain for stem cell research. He graduated from UNL. Everything else is just details. Sounds great for the UNOmaha campus.

* I overreacted... his name is Robert Phares. He still doesn't matter.
